Reported problems with installing GEOrient and GeoCalculator
--------------------------------------------------------
The software packages is distributed from this directory as a self-extracting zip file.

Run the .exe file to extract the set of setup files.

Run setup.exe to install the program.
_________________________________________________
SETUP.EXE will decompress the compressed files and store them in the appropriate directories. It will create a new Applications Group (folder) called GEORIENT under Windows with the GEOrient and GEOCalculator Program and Help files shown as separate icons. If you wish these icons can be dragged to any other existing Application Group (folder) and the GEORIENT Group deleted.

The following files are required by Georient and by Setup.exe and should be present before running Setup.exe:

	1)	README.TXT	This file

	2)	SETUP.EXE	Run this from within Windows 3.1 to
transfer and decompress the program files
	3)	SETUP.LST	Contains a list of the files required by
				SETUP.EXE

All the following files will be in compressed format with an underscore
in place of the final character:

	4)	SETUP1.EXE	A compressed file containing setup information
	5)	VER.DLL Used by Setup

After installation each of the following pairs of files should reside in the same applications directory (by default this directory will be labelled GEORIENT but this can be changed during setup)
	6)	GEORIENT.EXE	The WINDOWS 3.1+
				executable program file
	7) GEORIENT.HLP	GEOrient Help file

	8)	GEOCALC.EXE
	9)	GEOCALC.HLP

The following files will be placed in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory:

	9)	CSGROUP.VBX
	10)	CMDIALOG.VBX
	11)	COMMDLG.DLL
	12)	MSMASKED.VBX
	13)	THREED.VBX
	14)	CSSPIN.VBX
	15)	CSTEXT.VBX
	16)	QPRORUN.DLL
	17)	QPRO200.DLL
	18)	VBRUN300.DLL

===========================================================
Note:
The installation program, SETUP.EXE, is a Microsoft Utility and it has a few idisyncracies of its own:

Both Setup and GEOrient/GeoCalculator use a number of Windows .dlls. Occasionally this may result in Setup informing you that a file (eg. COMMDLG.DLL) is already in use. You can safely ignore these warnings and proceed).

Setup occasionally refuses to load files, particularly if it thinks (not always correctly) that storage space on the destination disk is low.

Problems have been reported running Setup with Win95. It has also been reported that the problem can be got around by removing the reference to ver.dl_ from the text file setup.lst.
Once I get hold of Visual Basic for Win95 I'll upgrade Setup to remove some of these problems.

If Setup.exe cannot be made to installthe files correctly then the files can be manually decompressed using the DOS utility EXPAND.EXE and put in the appropriate directories as above.
Use the syntax: EXPAND a:\filename destination

The Setup Utility commonly does not setup all the program and help icons in the GEORIENT Applications folder. If this happens simply manually install the icon using the Windows Program Manager File...New... menu.
